About the Hospital

Drs Craig and Rebecca Goode

Craig and Rebecca founded the Port Phillip Animal Hospital in 2006 with Ollie. They have worked in small animal practice in Melbourne since graduating from the University of Queensland and have been practicing in the local area since 2004. They feel a strong bond to the animals and pet owners in Port Phillip, being residents in South Melbourne and then Middle Park themselves and keen participants in the local community.
Their four boys Angus, Daniel, Archer and Leon keep them busy, along with their three dogs Lily, Patsy and Harry (the gentle giant Newfoundland). Since relocating to the country they have added a horse, a shetland pony, 7 Alpacas, two cats, two turtles, a pair of guinea pigs, ducks, chickens, some fish, and wait for it....  Miniature pigs.
Craig's professional interest lies in all aspects of surgery, both soft tissue and orthopaedic. Prior to working in general practice Craig completed an internship at the University of Melbourne. He was offered a residency in small animal surgery at UC Davis in California but elected to stay in Australia and open Port Phillip Animal Hospital instead.
Rebecca combines part time clinical work while acting as practice manager. Apart from looking after the boys and their ever expanding zoo, her area of interest is in veterinary medicine especially diagnostic imaging with ultrasound.

Dr Oliver Wilkinson
OllieProfileMod.jpg

Despite being born and bred in Liverpool in the UK, Ollie spent his formative years in Melbourne and considers himself a local boy at heart. He studied Vet at Melbourne University and graduated in 1997 making him the most senior veterinarian in the practice! After university he worked in Adelaide before returning to England to rediscover his roots. Ollie has worked all over England from Durham in the North to London in the South and most practices in between. He ended up in Cheltenham and liked it so much he stayed for most of the next ten years returning to Australia every so often to top up his accent and swim in the bay. In 2006 he helped Craig and Rebecca open the Port Phillip Animal Hospital. Ollie now divides his time between the UK and Melbourne, and the rest of the time he swims. In 2009 Ollie fulfilled a long held ambition to swim the English Channel, and in 2011 he became the fastest person to ever swim a lap around Manhattan! Ollie is married to the lovely Vickie, and their spoilt children are Tassie the Hungarian Viszla and Marley the moggy.

Dr Emma Prideaux

Emma graduated from the University of Melbourne with honours in 2000. After working a short time in private practice, she undertook an internship at Melbourne University in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery. It was there that she first met Craig and Bec. After having two children, Emma managed a flu vaccination business and locumed in small animal practice. She joined Port Phillip Animal Hospital in 2007. Emma is our AQIS accredited veterinarian, meaning you will need to see her if you plan to take your animals overseas. When she is not busy with her children Emma likes to eat chocolate and read.

Dr Scott McCann

Scott completed his Veterinary degree at the University of Melbourne in 1999 with honours after previously completing a Bachelor of Science at Monash University. After a stint in rural Gippsland, Scott headed overseas swapping the cows and sunshine of country Victoria for the sheep and rain of Wales. Eventually the bright lights of London drew Scott where he spent the next 4 years, working in a busy 24-hour facility. Scott moved back to Australia and joined the team at Port Phillip Animal Hospital in February 2009. He completed a Masters in Small Animal Medicine in 2010 and was granted Membership of the Australian College of Veterinary Science in June 2011. In his spare time Scott runs, rock climbs and watches his beloved Essendon struggle on far too many occasions.

Dr Theo Lynch

Dr-Theo-Lynch-(1).jpgTheo is a 2002 honours graduate of Sydney University.  He has worked in rural Victoria, as well as NSW and extensively in the UK, meeting and working with Ollie and Scott at various practices along the way. Theo enjoys all areas of practice, but particularly diagnostic ultrasound and clinical pathology. Theo has a soft spot for Burmese cats (he looks after two), his main interests outside work are skiing and travel.

Jane Coleman

Jane-Coleman.jpgJane has worked as a veterinary nurse since 2006 in specialist ophthalmology (eye) and bird practices, before she joined Port Phillip Animal Hospital in 2011.  She has completed her Veterinary Nursing Certificate and is also a registered nurse with the Royal Veterinary College.  Jane shares her home with Baz the crazy Rainbow Lorikeet who likes to tell you he's been a good boy and blow kisses, Fintan the kitten, as well as Tommy the elderly Jack Russell Terrier and two Oscar fish.  Jane likes to travel or spend time with her friends and music.

Dani Purtill

Dani comes to us with lots of experience in emergency and critical care nursing. Dani has a particular interest in nursing our more complex medical cases, but she takes even more pleasure from running our puppy preschool program and will be delighted to offer advice on any of your canine behavioural conundrums!  Outside of work Dani looks after two demanding Devon Rexs in between her commitments as the Melbourne Storm rugby league team's most fanatical supporter.

Maria Guinan

Maria left Ireland for Australia to travel in 2006, she loved it here so much she has decided to stay. Maria joined the Port Phillip Animal Hospital team early in 2009. Since then she has completed her certificate in Animal Studies and is currently undertaking her certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing. Maria loves the food culture of Melbourne and eats out whenever she can. She also enjoys reading and travelling. She is kept busy by her cheeky cat McNulty, one of our adoption kittens that Maria fell in love with.

Kathryn Lowe

Kathryn joined us in July 2010 after returning home from travels in Canada. Kathryn is excited to have completed her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing and is furthering her qualifications by undertaking her Veterinary Technician's Certificate. Prior to working as a veterinary nurse she worked in a cattery and a dog grooming salon pampering the pooches!
Kathryn has grown up with many pets and currently  has an occasional housemate - a cat named Flash - who seems to prefer the menu at their next door neighbours most nights. Kathryn loves to travel and go snowboarding in the winter.
